This year ExpoRose celebrated its 44th year. The event is spread over 4 days and centres around the main square with other events taking place around Grasse. As I was only visiting for the day I didn’t have chance to take in any of the wonderful events which included musical and theatrical events, concert piano recitals in the conservatoire and chorale pieces in the chapelle de l’Oratoire. After my visit to the perfume museum I headed for the main square to join the crowds of visitors browsing the rose plants and take in their incredible perfume. Further along were stalls selling all manner or rose products including water, jams, jellies, biscuits, chocolate, candied fruits and delightful meringues and pastries. A large marquee held floral displays of roses which seemed to balance on thin air. All too soon it was time to leave the square, hoping that this would not be my last visit to Grasse. Tomorrow was the Rose festival and another adventure …..
